Giving Tuesday is a perfect day to write about what it’s like to be a business in our community. We love the community we live in, many of our staff live in the area and many of our summer student staff go to University and College here as well. We love to serve you, giving our best every day to ensure you have an awesome food experience when visiting the farm. Whether you purchase from us, our retail partners or take our products out to share or give to friends or family, we want it to be the best experience possible!
Our community supports us year round by buying the products we make, from what we grow and we know how important it is for you to know where your food comes from and how it is safely grown. Without you, there would be no farm, so we give to you in many ways year round as a way to say THANK YOU and encourage you to support your cause and favorite charities.
This morning we were up at the crack of dawn preparing to give pancakes and berry syrup in Aldergrove at the Legion, as a way to participate in this global movement for giving and volunteering, taking place each year after Black Friday. The “Opening day of the giving season,” it’s a time when charities, companies and individuals join together and rally for favourite causes. In the same way that retailers take part in Black Friday, the giving community comes together for Giving Tuesday.
Giving Tuesday harnesses the potential of social media and the generosity of people around the world to bring about real change in their communities; it provides a platform for them to encourage the donation of time, resources and talents to address local challenges. It also brings together the collective power of a unique blend of partners - nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses and corporations, as well as families and individuals - to encourage and amplify small acts of kindness. Across Canada and around the world, Giving Tuesday unites communities by sharing our capacity to care for and empower one another.
It was great to see so many other businesses flipping and serving and collectively we hope we gave you a warm and delicious way to start your day and the season of giving.
