After weeks of preparing we are ALMOST ready to open the farm gate! Every area of the farm is stocked to the nines with your favorite farm products. The strawberries are ripening on time this year, unlike last year when they surprised us all a month early. My husband Alf brought me 3 beautiful, red sweet berries last night. It has become a tradition over the years, I think he finds it romantic, unlike me. As beautiful and tasty as they are, I gasp at their sight at the thought of shifting into high gear for the next 4 months. Really, it’s all good and we love what we do here on the farm, so I say that with a smile! Alf is a stellar farmer, caring so much about our crops, he is in the fields daily, predicting the exact day when he will be able to begin our harvest season. The rule of thumb is approximately 3 weeks after they produce their little white flowers. It is very beautiful to look at a field of strawberries in full bloom, it’s like a carpet of white. Heather took this beautiful photo a week and a half ago so I could share it with you.
Kristy, our event coordinator has been busy working on all the details that make for a great party and we have many fun ones coming up this year. The next one is for anyone that dons a kitchen apron. Ann and I have fun sourcing unique aprons on our buying trips. Our guests count on us for ensuring their time in the kitchen and at their dinner parties is just as awesome as the taste of their cooking and baking! RSVP to attend the fashion show on June 15th from 6:30-9pm for complimentary wine, berries and cheese.
The lovely Jana Seale will play throughout the evening.
We have completed training our new seasonal staff and together with our year round staff, we are ready to serve you, with the exception of the ones that are still in school for another 2 weeks. It’s going to be an exciting 2017 season, we’re looking forward to seeing all the familiar faces and meeting many new guests!
