2017 Events

April 18, 2017

This is an exciting time of year, the pace is somewhat “normal” at least what we feel “normal” to be. We have planned our farm events for the year, made new brochures and cards to ensure you receive the information on line as well as while you are at the farm visiting us. Heather has captured shots from the farm to be beautiful reminders for you about these events.  It was a very difficult choice this year as she captured so many beautiful shots for us to choose from, but we narrowed it down to these two for the cover of the cards.

New to the line up this year are the Summer and Fall Apron fashion shows.  We love the many ideas our staff come to us with and this event is a result of just that. Everly has a very creative mind and presented the idea of pairing the many beautiful aprons in our market with our staff as the models for a fun evening of wine and cheese.  I loved the idea!  Shopping for aprons has become one of the highlights for Ann and I when we buy at the shows.  Our guests comment to us that we have become their favourite place to find them for themselves and for their gift giving.  So Everly’s idea was the perfect “fit” to be able to showcase all these creations in a fun way for you!

Apple and Pumpkin Harvest Festivals are new this year as well.  These are a combination of our guests requests and Alf, our farmer, wanting to showcase the beautiful crops that he grows in the fall.  Apple pie is one of our best selling pies, combined with hot, buttered, roasted corn.  This will be one tasty event!  The Pumpkin Festival will showcase the variety of Pumpkins Alf grows along with the many gourds and squash. Both festivals will have many additional fun activities to participate in, along with a variety of food themed to each event.

Each year we have events that are booked by others, but open to the public  through ticket sales on their websites.  Two of those types this year that I am especially excited about are:

NOT YET FOR THE DRESS, is a UN International Gala Event organized by UN Women BC to help end Child Marriage.  We are honoured to be a part of this event on May 28th from 5pm-9pm.and to shed light on the 15 million girls who are married before the age of 18, that’s one every 2 seconds! FEAST OF FIELDS, is an amazing adventure with food and wine from BC’s top chefs, farmers, fishers, ranchers, food artisans, winters, brewers, distillers and such from the lower mainland. Experience the Harvest, Gourmet style!  It is the premier fund raising event for Farm Folk City Folk, a not for profit who work to cultivate local, sustainable  food systems across BC.  Imagine yourself with wine glass and napkin in hand strolling from tent to tent through our beautiful  private grassed field meeting these people and tasting their delightful creations! It’s a four hours to stroll, listen to live music, or even have a nap against the tree before getting up to eat and drink your way through it all again! This will be our 3rd year hosting this event and each year we have sold out at 1000 guests. We hope you secure your tickets in plenty of time so that we see you here on September 10th!
