Another wonderful birthday celebration for Canada this weekend. What a wonderful country to live in!
I am feeling very thankful for freedom and health today. Before I actively joined Alf in the day to day operations of our farm, I had a previous career. I flew with Air Canada for close to 20 years as a flight attendant. Arriving home from other countries, whether Montreal, Winnipeg, Calgary or Vancouver, (I was based in all 4 cities), I remember breathing in the fresh air as I walked to the staff parking lot and thinking how blessed I and my family were to call this beautiful country home.
Now, living on the farm, I continue to feel blessed with the crops we produce, our staff and all of you, our very valued guests. For many years Liz Krause served the guests strawberries and ice cream to celebrate Canada Day. In memory of her, we make berry pancakes for our guests, with proceeds from the donations going to Breast Cancer Research. This Canada Day was our 17th annual pancake breakfast and thanks to all of you, and our dedicated volunteer’s Ed, Pauline, Bob, Dennis, Rick, Norene, Grayden, Jayme, Jared, Bri and Tom, we are able twice a year (with Santa’s help in December) to have donated close to $40,000.00 bringing us a little closer to a cure.
